Orders containing chilled, what to expect
So you have decided not to go to the store and order crumpets, toasting muffins, or cheddar from us? Good! Here is what to expect and do.
What timelines to expect
We only dispatch chilled parcels from Tuesday–Thursday. As with all our other parcels, we observed that 99.5% of them get delivered the next day. You need to know, it’s not a guarantee though and you are taking some small risk when ordering chilled online.
What shape will things be in upon their arrival
If a delivery is made by post.nl within 24 hours after dispatch (99.5% of the cases of our customers so far), we expect the temperature inside the sealed envelope to be around the upper bound of fridge temperature range. This means frozen toasting muffins and crumpets will be defrosted upon arrival and cheddar will be just as chill as one can expect if it’s been in the fridge all the time. It’s been our experience that you can refreeze muffins and crumpets without an issue, however, do consider if that is something you are open to doing, before you order. Some people aren’t, and it is just fine. If you intend to keep them refrigerated, then them arriving defrosted is not an issue.
It’s been our experience that cheddar can take some serious beating in terms of ambient temperature outside the fridge range, and then be chilled, and be in the same shape as always. Within our experiments, we were able to maintain fridge-range temperature in the sealed chilled envelope within 24 hours after dispatch.
What should you do to make sure you get the best results
Please make sure that you are ordering so you can either be at home when the delivery is made or can pick up from a post.nl office as quickly as possible after you get the delivery notification. You can always leave a note alongside your order. Best results are achieved if you pick up within 24 hours after dispatch.
We always aim for you to have the best experience. During the peak season — November, December of any year — ordering chilled items is not possible because delivery times get out of hand.
What is the extra surcharge for chilled dispatch?
Each frozen or chilled product is 1 euro more expensive to order than they are if you are buying them in our brick-and-mortar store.
Return and refund policy for chilled items
Perishable items cannot be returned and you cannot receive a refund for them either. Please take this under advisement when ordering. It’s a different policy than for the rest of our products.
What if I am not fine with the above?
Contact us to cancel your order, it’s not too late unless it’s already dispatched. You can always pick up frozen crumpets or muffins in our store, or get cheddar from our fridge. And enjoy our beautiful space and a good conversation.
